How did you get started teaching?
When I got into the golf business in 1994 It was a natural progression into instruction. I always have had a passion for helping others and I have several family members who are teachers in different fields Including my mom and one of my sisters.
What types of students have you worked with?
All types from beginner to division I college level golfers.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I helped a 70 year old get back to golf after a 30 year hiatus from the game. During our first lesson he actually teared up when he started hitting the ball in the air again. Very cool.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure the instructor is a PGA member who has advanced their education with certifications in fields related to golf. In addition, make sure the instructor has plenty of experience. It takes practice to become a good instructor.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
They need to have attainable short and long term goals.
