About
I have taught more than 10,000 golf lessons over the past 15 years. I am the 2020 Carolinas PGA Player Development Award winner. I teach all skill levels and have experience coaching a wide demographic of players. I encourage my players to keep the F-U-N in the fundamentals! Players should utilize golf as a pathway for growth as a player and person!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Before we start an initial lesson I like to interview my student to get as much information as I can to find out what their individual goals are and what they enjoy most about the game. This process takes about 5 - 10 minutes. Here are a few of the questions that I ask in the initial interview:
Why do you want to take golf lessons?
What is your current score/ handicap & what is your goal score or handicap?
What are the strongest & weakest areas of your game?
Do you have any physical limitations?
What are your ball flight tendencies?
How much time do you have to devote to playing & practicing?
Those are a few of the questions that I ask a student in an initial interview before our first lesson. Next, we go out to the range or short game area and I would watch the student hit several shots to a target and diagnose the areas where they need the most improvement. In addition, I ask the student about what they are trying to do in their motion. Many times their is a conflict between what a student thinks they need to do vs what they actually need to do to get better. After diagnosing their issues I can then work on correcting the area that needs the most attention. Towards the conclusion of the initial session I will recommend a program for improvement that best suites the student based on their specific needs.

How did you get started teaching?
I played the game professionally for five years & found that I enjoyed helping my fellow competitors in between rounds. This lead me to becoming a class A PGA professional. I enjoy helping people improve, when someone starts hitting the ball better the game becomes more enjoyable reguardless of the skill level of the player.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all ages & levels of player. I have taught a 3 year old as well as and 89 year old! In addition, my students are comprised of a variety of different skill levels I have taught a U.S. Mid Amaetur Champion, mini tour players, club professionals, beginners, and high/ mid handicap golfers. I enjoy teaching a variety of different players reguardless of age or skill level.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A week ago one of my high school players shot 36 in his high school match and won the event. He has been working on his game with me for about 2 years now and he has made a great deal of progress. When he first came to me his scores were in the low 50s for nine holes and now he is a 2 handicap!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
It is important that the teacher knows what the student wants from their golf lessons and that the focus is on meeting the students goals. Golf is a life long journey not a sprint so the relationship between the coach & player is vital. A good coach genuinely cares for their students and develops trust with their players and helps them with all aspects of their game. A good coach should be a master at taking a techical idea and making it simple and relatable to the student. You want a coach who has a passion for the game and makes learning fun! After all, fun is why we play the game in the first place & I believe better play helps the player have a more enjoyable experience. In addition look for experience and professional accreditations.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
How much time can you practice & play during the week?
How long do you think it will realistically take you to achieve your goals?
If you wanted t improve one aspect of your game quickly in the first lesson what area will you want to focus on?
What are the biggest strengths and weaknesses in your game?
What price point fits your monthly budget for lesson?
