I have been teaching for over 10 years. I teach privately full-time and run my own company. I personally hire other enthusiastic and experienced music teachers to work with me. I believe learning music should be fun. While it also takes hard work and dedication, a student must first enjoy music in order to continue and progress. My teachers and I incorporate well-known songs into lessons so that students can relate to what they are learning. We also use many of our own games and worksheets to keep students engaged at all times. We offer many different types of lessons including voice, piano, guitar, and songwriting.  ... View Profile

My teaching approach: My teaching approach really depends on the student. I don't know what they need until we meet. But some things are across the board. I feel that technical skills are necessary tools for getting you where you want to go, so I put focus on making sure those are headed in the right direction. I teach through musical example.  I feel that all lessons learned are learned better if they are put into a musical context.  Exercises are great and necessary, but it's possible to put those into a song or composition.  That way you are always playing music:) I teach drumset, tabla, frame drums, general percussion, guit ... We teach you how to connect to your voice and your style. We are all given an instrument at birth and too many of us think that singing is NOT a learned skill - but it is! At Northline we approach singing as a learned skill, your voice is something you simultaneously build and learn to play, unlike another instrument  you can't go to the store and get a better version, you have to work on yourself to get the upgrade, and you have to stay close to your instinct to make sound, so you stay true to yourself. We can help you sound the way you WANT to sound, and still keep you connected to the core of YOUR individual and un ... View Profile
