About
My students and I go to work so they can play better and teach themselves. Practice becomes enjoyable and every swing is a learning experience, on or off the course.
Give me the fresh air, a beautiful partner, and a nice round of golf, and you can keep the fresh air and the round of golf. ~Jack Benny

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I want tthe student to talk about his game - scoring strengths and weaknesses, above and below average skills and what do you enjoy most about golf. Establish goals - distance, accuracy scoring - how long will the commitment be. Swing fundamentals must be emphasized - grip, hand action, posture, set-up routine, emphasis on feeling impact position, etc.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
40 years experience playing, competing and teaching. Golf is my 1st language. Former PGA Member.
My most successful student, Nick Cassini, rose to the #1 ranking in men's amateur golf worldwide - 1st Team All-American, Walker Cup Team Member, NCAA Champion.
Expertise in club fitting - always free of charge.

How did you get started teaching?
As a PGA Apprentice at Hollywood GC in Deal, NJ, I was hired to takeover the teaching duties. Membership wanted a fresh and enthusiastic approach. Golf course was a difficult layout. It was normal for members to take lessons all the time. There was a friendly competitive spirit that was promoted by the best players at the Club. Tomorrow was looked upon as the next opportunity to play your best. An invitation to play Hollywood GC was highly coveted.
What types of students have you worked with?
Pros, collegiate champions, club champions, scratch golfers, private and public recreational golfers - all levels of play, young and old.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My greatest joy in teaching is a student's "eureka" moment - when the mind and body naturally connect to feel the swing. Analyzing the shot follows as the student plans ahead for the next successful strike.
If we do this enough, my student (my coaching assistant), becomes self-instructional - self correcting. That's our ultimate goal - take it to the practice tee and 1st tee - control your golf destiny.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Ask as many questions as you can and be prepared to discuss your game. There is no charge for the evaluation. Neither can make an informed business decision until you get to know one another. You have to feel comfortable and confident with the discourse.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Will you change my swing? What skill sets will lower my scores the quickest - driving, iron play, wedges, chipping and/or putting? If I have limited rfunds for golf education, where will you focus to get me the most improvement? Do you have to be very athletic to play and enjoy the game?
