I specialize in guitar, bass, piano, drums, music production, and songwriting. From 2018–2022, I taught music in schools and privately, working with students of all ages and skill levels, both in-person and online. My teaching style is student-centered and practical: I tailor lessons to each student’s goals, whether that’s playing their first song, improving technique, writing original music, or diving into recording and production. They were both complete beginners a few months ago, and now they read music, play with both hands and put on little shows for the whole family. They love their lessons with “Mr. Will” and I think they’ll be playing piano for years to come. Can’t recommend him enough!" Read more

Jon M. says, "I've had the pleasure of receiving lessons from Assaf for over five years, and I'm still taking them. Regardless of the styles you are most into, Assaf will help you both improve in those styles, and also give you an extremely deep knowledge of music theory over time, which will help you dissect and create any kind of music. I have learned a ton so far from his lessons, been having a blast doing it, and have no plans to stop! Highly recommended." Read more

Reviews for Newark banjo lessons

Recent success stories from people in the Newark area.
Roy B.
Jason really understood my situation—a kind of writer's block about the rhythm of my lyrics. He zeroed in on the how and why of it and gave me very clear help that "unfroze" my writing. And production-wise, he's amazing.

He's a great teacher: encouraging, but also knows when and how to critique and not discourage a beginner. Makes sure it is challenging, but not overwhelming. Encyclopedic knowledge of jazz and music theory. Definitely recommend!

I began taking guitar lessons with Thor about 5 weeks ago and he is an excellent instructor , Thor is focused on teaching me and explains and demonstrates all of the work we are doing , he is patient and enjoys passing his music skills on to me . Thor also never is in a hurry for our lesson to end , he always wants to get his lesson plan across even if it takes extra time which I really appreciate. So if you are looking for an excellent dedicated guitar instructor Thor is the right choice

Will has all the attributes of a great teacher. He is knowledgeable, patient and passionate about music. I look forward to the lessons. I always feel like I’m getting better. I take guitar lessons, but Will plays about 6 instruments in total and I think his musical acumen brings and added intangible to the lessons.

I loved my guitar lessons with Yves and my son loves his bass guitar lessons as well. Yves has a proven approach to getting and keeping students engaged throughout the year with some progressively visible improvement to the song playing and various techniques. I started guitar as a beginner with Yves at about 40 years old and am still playing several years later. I love knowing i can play or learn any song i want thanks to Yves and enjoy playing with friends and family around. Truly an invaluable experience learning with Yves and invaluable skill being able to pick up a guitar and entertain myself or a group of people
