Native Flow Yoga And Equine Therapeutic Trainer
About
I specialize in teaching yoga and gentle equine therapeutic horse riding lessons for people with Lyme disease and other disabilities. I am also a photographer and the owner of Native Light Photography you can find me on Alignable and on Facebook! I specialize in teaching both yoga and equine therapy for trauma survivors! I’m also a trauma survivor and a Lyme warrior survivor so I offer experience and compassionate wisdom to my students! Please feel free to Google me Camille Ross Photography And Native Flow Yoga! I am hoping to team up with other healing riders in the area and we are in need of a wonderful barn equipped with gentle, trained and spook free horses! I once taught in an amazing project in Malibu, California where we teamed up horses who had unfortunately been abused with both children and adults who had also unfortunately been abused or had disabilities, it was an absolutely unforgettable and truly beautiful experience! I hope to be able to arrange a similar project here in beautiful New Jersey!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first thing I like to start with especially for those who haven’t had any prior contact with horses is to introduce horse and rider with gentle grooming and lots of petting and general aquatinting so that a trusting bond can be established, this may take quite awhile so horse and rider can become very comfortable and familiar with one another. Then I like to play games with horse and rider like rolling yoga balls and other fun things for the horses so they understand their rider is also a friend! Then I like to saddle up (English) since my background is in Dressage and take lots of time learning how to properly prepare your horse for a sturdy ride. Then I introduce gentle lunging so your horse can begin exercising and I like the rider to learn this as well. Since all of my students may have physical and possibly emotional limitations especially like trust as we all have since horses are big and strong animals so we spend a lot of time together working on establishing a safe way and hopefully a playful way to learn more about our new animal friends! Remember they are very big animals though it’s important to realize that all
horses are very kind animals unless they, like people, have been mistreated so we spend a lot of time together establishing trust before we embark on a gentle riding experience in the arena!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
i have been an avid horse person since I was a child. For many years i studied dressage and became quite accomplished though I’ve unfortunately due to a back injury unrelated to a horse and because I’ve had a long battle with Lyme disease I’ve had to take a long break from riding. During my time of healing from my spinal injury and Lyme disease I became a Yoga teacher where I worked with many people who were survivors of both physical and emotional trauma and who wanted to overcome disabilities through yoga, so I ended up specializing in this and discovered that by helping others heal I wax in fact greatly healing myself! So I decided to put all of these healing modalities together and to teach therapeutic yoga and equine therapy and even photography all together!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
i offer lessons based upon a sliding scale and I hope to be able to procure a grant from our horse community or other donating individuals so that all classes can be free!
How did you get started teaching?
I am new to teaching riding lessons even though I have experience from my teaching program in Malibu which taught me a lot, however I’ve been teaching yoga for seven years now and practicing for over 15 years. I’m also a photographic educator and I’ve been teaching both college and high school age students for 25 years.
