Golf Lessons With Alissha
About
I have been playing golf for a total of 18 years. I have played with women's clubs and won the 2007 Club Championship at the D'Andrea Golf Club in Reno, NV.
I have coached many students since I acquired my teaching certification in 2008 from the National Registry of Professional Golf Instructors. I have taken students with no prior experience to playing the game on courses. I also volunteered with the First Tee of Northern Nevada for two years and coached children from 6 to 18.
I worked with them on their full swing, pitch shots, chip shots and putting. I was also able to accompany them out on the golf course so they could learn the rules and etiquette.
I have also had extensive coaching in the mental aspect of the game. My coach is a professional golfer who has played the game over 50 years and professionally over 35 years.
Coach Tip: This is a quote from the book Spirit of the Dancing Warrior by Jerry Lynch and Chungliang Al Huang: "Mastery. It is interesting to discover that there is no path to mastery: mastery is the path, the journey of never-ending multidimensional growth and development, a zigzag way of excellence. You don't attain mastery; you live it as a lifestyle one small step at a time and you can measure success by the quality of those steps."

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I find out what goals the student has for the game and make sure that is a reasonable goal. All new students begin lessons with stretching and strengthening exercises to prevent injury and to prepare the student for the golf swing. Then I work on the fundamentals of grip, address, body mechanics. I start with the full swing and then work on the short game (chipping, pitching and putting) The goal is to eventually learn the skills needed to play a round of golf. When a student has enough skill to play a short par three course, I also go through basic rules and etiquette.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been certified by the National Registry of Professional Golf Instructors to teach golf. I have also worked extensively with a professional golfer who has helped me in the mental aspects of the game.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching golf because I had a very great need to know the entire mechanics of the golf swing. Learning to teach golf showed me each part of the swing in a manner that was very clear and then I was able to transfer that information to my students.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students that have absolutely no knowledge of the game of golf to students who are fairly accomplished in the game and needed a tune-up or advice in a certain part of their game.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
If you are a beginner student, make sure that the instructor has lots of experience with the beginning fundamentals.
