Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to spend some time with my golfer tell them a little bit of the my background explain to them how I can help then become a much better player. A lot of players come to me with specific needs and things that they want to accomplish. So sometimes we just get right to it.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over 40 years experience in golf. And I touched every part of this game from the Greenskeeper to the Pro Shop. I truly love this game and everything that it stands for. I feel truly lucky to play this game. It's an honor.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Normally I charge by the hour. I also have lesson packages available. And I also provide Playing Lessons. That means that we go out and we play a round of golf. It's a flat fee of $200.
How did you get started teaching?
I wasn't always a teacher. In my younger days I was just a working guy, that love this game. But once I started to get really good, I wanted to caddy. But in the middle of all that life happens and we have to do what we called to do. Most of my friends and people that I know always told me that I should teach this game because I'm very good at it it is a passion of mine. So I grow this game by teaching it to people.
What types of students have you worked with?
I work with golfers from the age of 5 years old to 95 years old juniors, women, men, even tour players have come to me. I love every single bit of it. I was there once myself and I know how it feels when you can get the ball to do exactly what what you want it to do.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Whenever I'm not teaching golf I'm playing it. When I'm not playing it I'm watching it. The PGA Tour is in phenomenal shape right now. These young guys know how to hit it and aren't afraid to take chances. They're very aggressive, and that's what I teach my golfers.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
You know golfers seem to have a lot of pride. They really can't stand taking advice from their friends, because they don't know what they're doing either. It's best to do yourself a favor and get with someone who's been in the game for a long time. Golf is an athletic sport however you don't have to be an athlete to play it there's room out here for all of us. What I teach is fun and exciting and results are instantaneous.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I think there's only one rule of thumb here. And it comes down to this when that ball leaves the club face it's all about ball flight. If the ball is flying in the direction and distance that you wanted to go, that's all that matters.
