About this pro

Your local PGA Professional Anthony Rodriguez is a native New Yorker who was inspired to take up golf at the age of sixteen after seeing an intriguing adolescent named Tiger Woods win the 1994 United States Amateur Championship. Like many young golfers, particularly those inspired by Mr. Woods, the game profoundly affected Anthony's life both on and off the course.

Anthony knew almost immediately that he wanted to give back all that the game had given to him and after college accepted a prestigious internship opportunity with the PGA Tour in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Building on this momentum and his own dedication Anthony propelled himself into the golf business, navigating his way through nearly every aspect of the industry-for ten years he moved from public courses to private country clubs and resorts in the Southeastern United States building a resume of varied, unparalleled and invaluable experience.

Throughout this time "A-Rod," as he is known to friends, students and colleagues, also worked through the PGA Program where he further developed his craft alongside some of the most highly regarded PGA Professionals and Instructors in the game. After completing the PGA program he achieved PGA Class A membership status and earned his first Head Professional position in Maryland. A few years later an irresistible opportunity presented itself: The chance to come back to New York and contribute to the growth of The Metropolitan First Tee Program centered in Brooklyn and also manage both the Brooklyn Golf Center and Riis Park Golf Course.

Currently, Anthony's role within The First Tee of Metropolitan New York & Mosholu Golf Course allows him to continue providing individual/group instruction & playing lessons at our Mosholu facility.

I enjoy not knowing who I'm going to meet, it can be anyone from a world champion chipotle bowl winner to a goat rancher visitng NYC.

First impression, he's a good listener as I was describing myself and my golf swing concerns. He looks for good understanding/demonstration of fundamentals to the individual along with knowing cause and effect. It took me a month in getting use to the grip change, now my short game stone hands are gone! Thx Arod
