My teaching approach: For "absolute beginners" I start with note reading, chord playing, proper fingering, basic music theory, and playing simple songs. Material is presented in a graded fashion so the student's learning is enhanced. For intermediate to advanced students I begin sight reading studies, advanced chord playing, scales, improvisation, theory, ear training and more complex songs. As a teaching artist for many years, I have worked with countless numbers of individuals, all ages, many of them level one students. The one constant over the years is how different everyone's needs are. I learn from my students how to keep my approach to teaching flexible and fresh.
