I'm a rare combination of really understanding human nature very deeply and sharing insights that help my clients along with being very action oriented.
I can be very playful, but also honest and kind and specific where I see their blocks but also what adjustments to make.
Almost all of my clients talk about my ability and insights and how spot on they are.
I call my work being a "midwife for people's dreams."
It doesn't get any better than that.
Lois is an extraordinary coach. I’ve worked with her on and off for many years and continue to marvel at the depth of her insight, her broad understanding of professional and interpersonal issues, and her ability to cut to the heart of a problem or a goal to provide relevant, actionable, soul-soothing advice. Already a difficult combination to find, but on top of that she’s kind, funny and all-around fabulous!
Lois Barth is a brilliant, highly skilled and experienced coach who has given me unending support and many invaluable “Aha” moments in both my personal and professional life. She brings a wealth of insight and information to every situation and has exercises and transformational tools that can be used for a lifetime of success.
Lois has an extraordinary way of coaching clients that inspire and empower, yet she is forthright in her recommendations and suggestions. Her passion, intelligence, wisdom, knowledge, and compassion make her the ultimate coach and consultant!
I always start out with a 15-20 minute discovery call, where I clarify my prospective client's needs and goals by asking a few specific questions, but mostly really listening. From there, I'm able to assess whether we're a fit based on chemistry, what they're looking for and what my area of expertise and focus is. Once it's established, we discuss logistics, as in rates, location, and frequency.
Whether people are coming to me for life or business/career coaching, I send them a questionnaire to fill out before our initial session so we can hit the ground running. Different clients need different things, but it's usually a combination of clarity, support, accountability, and direction. I'm not a big fan of overwhelming my clients with too much to do at once, but rather to create a consistent set of actions so they get to win. I also offer support and guidance regarding shifting their behavior and beliefs that no longer serve them.
It's a dynamic often creative. I'm all about cultivating curiosity about their own wiring and their own needs versus them criticizing themselves. Compassion and honesty are a winning formula!
I have a Bachelors of Science in Human Development from SUNY Empire. In addition, I've completed four different coaching certification programs in the following areas:
Whole Life Empowerment
Relationship- Singles and Couples
I've also studied gender training and was a licensed medical massage therapist for 25 years, so I really understand the body/mind/spirit connection and I meditate 15 minutes every day. Personal Growth and Professional Development is simply the lens through which I look through my life and my client's life.
I was also a working actress, comedienne, arts educator in a previous career.
My coaching prices are based on packages and the focus of what I'm coaching on.
But in short, my fees run $200-$250 per session. In certain cases, where needs arise, I have a sliding scale of $150 or $175 based on the circumstances of my clients.
Again, this is broad-stroke since I usually have clients purchase packages of sessions.
I had been a licensed massage therapist for 25 years and an actress and health lecturer. I always loved to help my client's with their challenges and goals, not only in their body but in mind and spirit and business and romance. So when life coaching became popular, I started to get the appropriate training to make that transition. I'm also a speaker and trainer and author. Nothing is better than being what I call a "midwife for people's dreams." I love it.
I've worked with clients from all walks of life; restauranteurs, actresses, entrepreneurs, freelancers, lawyers. The type of clients I bring the most value to, are those that are really curious and hardworking and committed to becoming "comfortable with being uncomfortable" and taking inspired risks and actions. They are coachable and open and willing to grow. We all come up against resistance but if the client is willing to grow and change then it makes no sense to work together.
There are so many, but one that stands out is speaking at my Alma Mater for 400 of my fellow alumni and getting a standing ovation after speaking. It wasn't the standing ovation that thrilled me, but rather seeing my colleagues, people I really believe in "light up" feel inspired and let me know that by me sharing my wisdom humor and insights it made it easier for them to take action. That was amazing.
Get clear the type of support you need.
Feel free to ask questions.
Trust yourself if something feels right or wrong.
Do you feel supported, but also stretched, and heard?
Make sure they've had experience with the goals and issues you're looking to address.
What type of coaching is most productive right now?
How do you like to be coached? Tough love? Stretched? Listened? Structured action? More fluid?
All of the questions I mentioned above are good questions and things to think about.
