My name is Adam Schorr. I'm a sophomore at Hunter College, pursuing a degree in Music Education, and multi-instrumentalist. I've been playing oboe for 8 years, bass for 5 years. I took 2 years of extensive Music Theory classes in highschool, in which I received some of the highest marks amongst my classmates. I competed in NYSSMA for 6 years in a row, achieving near-perfect scores and positions in the Division IV All-County Orchestra. Currently I'm performing with my college's symphony as well as Columbia University's Wind Ensemble....

The mix of fun an rigor. We clap, sing, and groove a bit on the piano bench. I teach my students to treat everything they learn - scales, exercises, songs, as a tool that they can use to build sometihng of their own. Once learned we can swing Twinkle, Twinkle, improvise with a scale; we can rock out the Mozart. We can use the Bach minuet to write a pop song. Throughout my years of teaching private and group lessons, I've spent a lot of time talking with my students about what they like and what works.
