I've always been athletic, but I had difficulty obtaining mass as an adolescent, and therefore, I wasn't the most confident kid on the field. I studied  Kung-fu and Muay Thai and even had a brief amateur career. My true passion was still football. After being faced with a poor, if not non-existent strength and conditioning program in high school I was motivated to learn how to properly train to improve my athleticism, so I worked out with guys bigger, stronger, and faster than me and asked questions, and read whatever I could regarding nutrition,  fitness, and exercise. I was mostly self-taught. By the start of my Jr year, I had such a drastic on-field improvement, I went from 3rd string JV to 2nd string Varsity and a starter by the 4th game.  This elevated my passion for self-improvement and eventually led to an athletic scholarship at a division I university for coaching, which gave me a chance at a college education.   I

I'm a Strength, Conditioning, and Performance coach from NYC.  I've worked with general population clients as a certified personal trainer for over 10+ years in the NYC city area for Ballys, and Equinox Sports Club since 2002.  In 2012, he transitioned as a private coach to one of NYC’s pioneering independent training studios, Titan Fitness Studios, and was quickly hired as a General Manager while maintaining a clientele of as many as 20.  

I CoFounded the sprint club "A Tribe Called Sprinters NYC” with long-time associate Jonathan Lespinas, as well working as an Assistant Coach under Jonathan who is the Head Coach of St. John’s Prep High School Track and Field team in Queens, NY.    

At the start of 2020, a good friend and I opened a new performance extension of a long-time staple in the NYC powerlifting community, "South Brooklyn Weightlifting Club" and rebranded ourselves "SBWC Performance", in Brooklyn, NY;  A 4,000+sq./ft state of the art athletic development and recovery space, that can accommodate world-class professional athletes, but designed to give extraordinary training to everyday people regardless of ability.  My experience, commitment to science-based protocols, along with my unique coaching style has made me very versatile and my clientele has included virtually every type of individual and goal.  From kids to seniors, men, women, disabilities, pre-post natal, weight loss, weight gain, youth & pro athletes, celebrities, you name it, I’ve probably coached it.  And if I haven’t I sure as hell will learn how to.

    Extremely intelligent, knowledgeable, funny, and extremely motivating. Got me to understand how and why we did everything we did. Got in the best shape of my for my wedding, aesthetically, AND athletically. Ended up joining a weekend soccer league because of the confidence I got working with me. I HIGHLY recommend him.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I offer up to 2 complimentary sessions. 

First is an introduction to the gym and other relevant staff.  New are asked questions in a Par-Q for fitness history and specify fitness goals and reasons why. Then a body composition and a possible fitness assessment are done to get data on the student's current fitness level.  

The second session is a beginner workout designed for that individual based on data from the first session.  Also serves to give coach as well as student an idea of each other's communication styles, and abilities.

How did you get started teaching?

As an avid participator and fitness enthusiast, I sort of fell into training. After a long time childhood friend from martial arts wanted to lose weight and get in shape,  he would work out with me for some months. 

Years later he got a job as a personal trainer at a Bally Total Fitness at the time and quickly promoted to PT manager. The gym was hiring trainers and he immediately contacted me, citing, "you taught me everything I know about working out", as his reason for why I'd make a great trainer.  

What types of students have you worked with?

I've trained people as young as 12 to 89 years old. From complete beginners to experienced athletes. Working for over 15 years as a trainer at Ballys and Equinox and Titan Fitness Studios, I've worked with people from many walks of life, occupations, experiences, and goals. I have experience with people with unique injuries or conditions including multiple sclerosis and early-stage Parkinson and late-stage pregnancies. I've even trained a few professional athletes and actors.
