Sara M. says, "Michelle is the piano teacher I wished for when I was a kid! Michelle is patient, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. One of the things my 7-year-old loves most about Michelle is that she lets her explore her musical creative side. Michelle has guided my daughter in composing her own music, tackling tough songs of her own choosing and in introducing instruments like the harmonica into her selections. Michelle is always upbeat and full of positive energy and as a result my daughter loves her music lessons." Read more

My teaching approach: For "absolute beginners" I start with note reading, chord playing, proper fingering, basic music theory, and playing simple songs. Material is presented in a graded fashion so the student's learning is enhanced. For intermediate to advanced students I begin sight reading studies, advanced chord playing, scales, improvisation, theory, ear training and more complex songs. Influences include the Beatles, Led Zepplin, Chet Atkins, George Van Eps, Earth Wind and Fire, and many others. My guitar lessons take place in: The 520 Eight Avenue, NYC, or the student's home. Miss Christine is a wonderfully knowledgeable, fun, and patient teacher for my 10 year old who is learning the drums. She tailors each lesson for him and whatever he is wanting to focus on/work towards. She sends over helpful documents for him that she made, and she even looked up some songs in her free time to get familiar with the songs he likes even managing to find the sheet music for them as well. She remembers what they have worked on and new things they are learning and most importantly, makes it enjoyable! Miss Christine really goes above and beyond, which is hard to do via Zoom, and she a very talented teacher that my whole family highly recommends!

I am so glad we found Michelle of Take Note Lessons. We have a 5th grader and 8th grader who both actively enjoy piano lessons and are both progressing well. Michelle adapts her teaching style to fit students' personalities - we see this demonstrated weekly as our girls certainly have their individual quirks....and nothing seems to phase her! She's open and warm enough that they both feel they can talk to her and yet they quickly buckle down to work too. Strongly recommend!

Jason really understood my situation—a kind of writer's block about the rhythm of my lyrics. He zeroed in on the how and why of it and gave me very clear help that "unfroze" my writing. And production-wise, he's amazing.

I have been getting guitar lessons with Bryan for over two years. As a forty something year old, who can be very stuck in his ways, Bryan has been abundantly patient with my slow learning process. He is thoroughly knowledgable of the guitar, adapts to my learning curve, finds real life examples that helps move me along in the right direction. So very thankful I decided to go with Bryan as my teacher. He does the music world good simply being the kind of teacher he is.

While working as a professional Broadway performer I had the honor to train with Julia. The sessions were very challenging at first because I needed to retrain my breath, relax facial muscles and work on everything from creating sound. Julia's detail to technique allowed me to blossom and find my authentic voice. Her approach to singing is fun but spiritual at the same time. In all my years of vocal training, Julia was by far the most inspiring and liberating teacher I had. Take a risk -you just might find your voice.
