About

For too long, golf was a game that many thought they would never want to play. It was either too expensive or too hard. "I could never learn to play" is what I heard for years. I have taken over 25 years of teaching in the sports field, and made the game a fun and fairly easy game to learn. Of course it takes many months/years to get better, but what game doesn't. I will give you the basic knowledge of the game and then you can take it from there. I do it with a smile and knowing that most people are very apprehensive about learning. I make the game fun. Give it try. I promise you will walk away with a smile.

It is so satisfying to watch a student 'get it' for the first time.

The first time a ball flies off of the sweet spot and sails through the air right towards their target makes a teacher's day.

Frequently asked questions

I like to build a nice comfortable rapport with my students.  I want to know what THEY want to learn and not sound like a robot just going through the motions.  A lot of the students I deal with are beginners and novice golfers and I want them to be comfortable and relaxed.  It's just a game and if I can help them feel a little bit better about whacking that silly white ball around with their friends, then my job is complete.

I have been in the golf businees for 19 years and I am a Class A PGA golf professional.  I have taught/coached golf on the high school and the collegiate level.  I have also taught/coached college lacrosse and I was a ski instructor for many years in Colorado.  I believe my extensive teaching and coaching skills will work with any student.  From the beginner to the expert.  I am sure I can help in some form or fashion.

I charge $40 for a 1/2 hour lesson

I charge $60 for a 1 hour lesson.

I also have a package program;  $125 for 4- 1/2 hour lessons and $200 for 4- 1 hour lessons.

I do offer playing lessons and we can discuss the rates when that time may arise.

I was coaching a ski racing team in Boulder, Colorado and I realized that it was just TOO cold.  I have been playing golf for 52 years, since I was 4, and I always knew I wanted to be in the golf business in some way.  in 2002, an assistant golf professional position opened up at a course outside of Boulder, CO and as luck would have it, I was chosen from  50 applicants.  And as they say......the rest is history.  I have learned a great deal from watching other good instructors and taking away bits and pieces from each one.

I have worked with the absolute beginner to the scratch golfer.  I have an eye for correction and what might be wrong with a swing and I LOVE to teach beginners the basics so they may continue to enjoy the game as they move forward.

My proudest teaching experience happened a few years ago when I was able to volunteer my time with veterans with PTSD and teaching them the game.  There is NOTHING more intrinsically satisfying to me, than to see one of our veterans smile because of something I have done.  These were veterans that hadn't left their homes in years and I (we) convinced them to come out and try.  And for 3 years, that one hour we spent on Tuesday afternoons was usually the highlight of my week.  So much fun.

Find a teacher who will understand YOUR needs and wants and not just dive head first into a standard teaching practice.  Does he/she ask if you have any physical restraints?  Do they actually LISTEN to you or do they just want to get you in and out the door?  Do they M A K E  you smile and enjoy it?

Friendly, easy to understand, flexible and most importantly, are they doing this for YOU or are they more concerned about their own well-being?

Again,  concerns about physicality and any past injuries that might prohibit them from a good golf swing.

Will they have the time to practice what is learned?  My theory is that there should be a least 4 practice sessions between lessons.  If the student doesn't practice what they have learned from the teacher, the next lesson will be just like the first because they haven't moved up to the next step in the learning process.  Remember, Practice does NOT make Perfect........It makes PERMANENT.  PERFECT practice make PERFECT !!!
