About
I have been training and working with horses since 1969. It's my goal to teach the student not only how to develop a basic seat on a horse and how to use light, gentle hands, but also basic horse care, parts of the horse, saddle and bridle, and teach them about the importance of regular farrier and vet care. If you or your child are a beginner, I'd be happy to teach you or them how to ride, Western or English style!
I love to try to help my students understand not only what to do, but why they should do it. I also try to share the things that I know about horses with them.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Start from the very beginning. Explain things in a way I feel each individual student can understand, and then make sure they do understand. I always ask my students to let me know if they don't understand something, and I'll find a better way to explain it.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 50 years of experience training and working with horses. I have done barrel racing, pole bending and other gymkhana (contesting) sports, ridden English (dressage, show jumping and cross-country jumping), and lots of trail riding. I have worked with abused and neglected horses, and trained one of my horses since she was a foal, and the other since she was a two-year-old. I also worked as a trail guide at a dude ranch.
