Heather Froehlich Cortell
HUNTER / JUMPER / EQUITATION TRAINER
Heather is a third-generation horse professional with decades of experience in equestrian care and training. Her approach is rooted in a strong hunter jumper equitation foundation knowing the importance of dressage paired with a psychological lens on the communication between horse and rider — the same partnership first philosophy at the heart of Hunter Vale Show Stables.
As a junior rider, she qualified for top national pony hunter finals for six consecutive years. Since turning professional in the early 2000s, Heather and her students have earned numerous awards at historic national competitions.
From 2005 to 2008, Heather served as assistant coach for the Bucknell Equestrian Team and as an assistant trainer in Pennsylvania. In 2025 she relocated to Florida, opening new opportunities for her students to grow in the sport. Today, she brings that same experience and care to every rider she works with through her training.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We schedule a one on one private lesson to analyze the level of the rider. If I think of a group that would work best then we transition the student into a group setting.

How did you get started teaching?
I am a second-generation horse trainer. My mother was a professional for 35 years. I learned most everything from her, started teaching when I was a teenager. Unprofessional when I was an adult and started my own business in 2004.
What types of students have you worked with?
We work with all types of students starting as young as five years old.
