Eighteen years ago Brian Eliason began teaching Music in the Portland area. As he starting teaching he noticed two big holes in the learning of local students. First he noticed students who could play by ear well but did not understand the reading the notes. Second he noticed students who could read notes but had not developed their ability to play by ear. We are husband (strings) and wife (piano, Japanese and ESL) who are passionate about teaching. We lay foundations and ground work for learning and appreciating music. We both began learning music at a very young age and love sharing music with others and have experience teaching all ages and levels. My name is Tim Smith and I live/work in Aloha. I have played the cello for 55+ years and love to teach. I have worked with all ages, beginner to intermediate levels. I adapt the lessons to the needs and ability of the student. I desire to help each student love to play and create on their instrument. Your joy is my joy! My hourly rate is $50 (which I usually recommend for adult students) but I can do a shorter session i.e. 45 min for $45 or 30 min. for $40 (for younger students).
