The heart behind what we do here in our program is to teach riders of all ages about excellance in horsemanship. We want this learning process to be safe, engaging, and informative.
Our riding instructor has been working with horses for over 15 years. She is certified as an instructor through CHA (Certified Horsemaship Association) and has been teaching riding lessons for over 5 years.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Every person is unique and retains information differently. My goal is to help each student reach the goals that they have for their riding and doing so in a way and at a pace that they can succeed. I want to challenge our riders in order to help their skills grow but I also understand the importance of building confidence and allowing students to develope and learn at their own pace.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been working with horses for most of her life and has a sincere passion to help educate those interested in learning more about horses. My goal is to help students learn learn excellance in horsemanship — no matter what their age, riding style, or goals.

Private Lesson // $49 (first lesson)
Private Lesson // $40 (for each following lesson)
Group lessons // $35 ( 2+riders)
**All lessons are an hour long; some exceptions apply**
How did you get started teaching?
I’ve always enjoyed horses!
It started with me walking to neighbors house once a week, back when I was 7, and she would let me brush her horse. When I was 9 my parents figured they should probably sign me up for lessons (they may have secretly hoped for me to get tired of this whole pony-business...but it didn’t work). ;)
From there I had the wonderful opportunity of assisting my instructor for awhile before she asked if I’d like to teach some lessons myself.
From there I just never stopped. :)
What types of students have you worked with?
I’ve worked with students of a variety of ages. The general age range I’ve taught is 5yrs - 62yrs, with a greater concentration being around the ages of 9yrs-13yrs.
Boys and girls, men and women are all welcome in the riding arena.
I’ve also worked very closely with some foster-adoption families that were looking for an outlet for their child(ren).
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Pertaining to horses, I was recently able to take a student on a trail ride one day that was particularly warm. We had a lovely time in the woods and it was a great opportunity for. “break” from our regular lesson time.
Not pertainig to horses, I went cherry-picking for the first time the other day and my mom and I canned 24qts of them the same day we picked them! We kept some fresh for pie making tomorrow. When not involving horses, I’m a devoted foodie. :)
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would encourage prospective students to look for an instructor that is teaching or doing what you want to do. There are many instructors out there and finding one that can help you go in the direction you want to do is important. It’s also extremely valuable to find an instructor that can do that while supporting and encouraging you. Don’t settle for someone that criticizes or is rude — there are so many wonderfully supportive instructors out there! Find them. :)
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I would recommend that think seriously about what their goals are for riding lessons. Do they want to show? If so, what discipline and to what level? Do they just want to have fun and learn the fundamentals?
These questions are very important and helpful for your instructor. They help you know if a particular instructor is a good fit for you as well as provide direction and focus to both the student and instructor.
