About

I am a very patient and knowledgeable golf professional and coach. I will keep your lesson(s) very simple and will not overload you with too many thoughts. This will help you learn a swing faster. If you have played before and have a swing that you feel comfortable with, I will do all I can to integrate what will make you play better without making you swing a certain way. If you have never played before I will start you off with the basic movements while also helping you feel comfortable getting away from the lesson area to the golf course. As your coach I want you to be comfortable with me and have the ability to ask questions whenever you think of them. I want you to succeed just as much if not more then you do.

As the Director of Instruction at Play a Round Golf in Ardmore, PA. With over 15 years of teaching all levels of the game, as well as being a highly skilled player I can help you improve and meet your goals. I am experienced in helping all skill levels from beginner to advanced players improve and take what they learned to the course. I will use my knowledge of the golf swing, and motor control learning to help you play better quicker. I will also couple that with technology proven to help players improve.

As one of the first indoor golf facilities in the Philadelphia area (voted best on the mainline) we can teach no matter the weather outside. We can also teach earlier in the morning and later in the night then almost every other facility around.

When I send you a quote that is the price for a lesson. However before that, I would like to have you come in for a free 15 to 30 minute swing assessment. That will include finding out your goals, learning styles, beginning swing videos in each area of your game (Full Swing Driver, 7 Iron, Short Game Pitch, Chip, and Putting), and student interview. From that assessment I will put a program in place for you. That program will be a guide to help you meet the goals you have set for yourself. It will include how long I think it will take to reach your goal, what the steps will be to help you improve, and how much time, and how many lesson I think it should take. You can take that and run with the program, or you can just take the lesson and I will have record of what to work on if you come back.

Thank you for your interest and I look forward to working with you!

Play-a-round golf is a fantastically designed experience. After going with several friends just for fun, I was able to set up lessons with Brian. Brian proved himself invaluable to my game, helping fine tune my iron play. The videos provided and instant feedback were great. Thanks to Brian and Play-a-round, I have lowered my scores, and enjoy being on the golf course once again.

Frequently asked questions

I want to get to know you, and what skill level are you coming to me with. I will start with some simple evaluations for each of my new students and see how I can help you reach and exceed your goals.

I attended  the Golf Academy of America in Phoenix, Arizona. While at the school, I was instructed by 5 PGA members, 2 PGA Master professionals and 3 Quarter Century PGA members.  They taught me not only the principles of the golf swing, but how to teach and grow this great game of golf. One of the additional benefits of going to Arizona for school was I interned under John Stahlschmidt of the TPC Scottsdale’s PGA tour Academy, for a year, who is one of the best teachers in the country.

During my career I have  worked at many golf courses along the way but eventually ended up at Chesapeake Bay in Rising Sun Maryland. While there I was able explain the mechanics of the golf swing, as well as the values of the game, to 1000’s of kids, as the Head Golf Coach for the North East High School team. The team was able to send several golfers to the state tournament during  my 4 years. At the end of my fourth year I was offered a job as Head Golf Coach at Cecil College where I coached a team that competed in the NJCAA for 3 years.

I have been  able to shadow some of the best instructors in the country. They include, John Dunigan PGA Master Professional, Pete Huber PGA Master Professional “ A Golf Digest Top teacher in America, Adam Bazalgette former Academy Director of Leadbetter Golf Naples, Andy Barbin 2010 National PGA Presidents Plaque  award winner, Scott Vandegrift 2009 Central Counties Chapter Golf Professional of the year, Tim Eberlein PGA Master Professional,  3 time PGA southwest section Horton Smith  award winner, Dave Seaman, Dick Matthias, Brian Kramp, Brendan Post and many others.

All of my hour long lessons are $125 which will include high speed video, a data locker to view all of your shots for the day, exact yardages, and much more.

Half hour lessons are $70.

I have been a golf professional for over 15 years now. I got started after working in a job I did not enjoy for many years, so I went back to school and graduated with a degree in golf course management from the Golf Academy of America. After graduating I started working as an assistant golf professional for several years giving 1000's of lessons, I found I really love seeing all my students hit the ball better and am very passionate about helping others improve. Now as the Director of Instruction I get to see that every day.

I have worked with students of all ages and abilities. From beginner to plus handicaps and everything in between.

The most recent was one of my students came in struggling with consistency. Would have a round in the 80's every now and then, but after we worked together for about 2 months he started really shooting well even got some rounds in the 70's. He took a lesson a month ago and I heard from him a few weeks ago that he won his flight in the club championship shooting 74 -75.

Another junior  student who loves the game came in shooting in the high 50's for 9 holes. Really struggles with distance and scoring. After a 5 hour lesson package he is now shooting sub 45 with a low 9 hole round of 39.  He has even started counting how many career birdies he has which I think stands at 39 as we speak.

We have a lot of great golf coaches and instructors in the area. I am proud to call many of them friends. With that, we all have different was to interact with our students.  I always suggest taking 1 lesson before buying a package to make sure you get along with them and they understand what you are looking for.

What are your goals?

How much time can you devote to reaching those goals?

As with anything it will take some effort to improve, but with the right coach you can start playing better
