My name is Matt seethaler. I went to the San Diego Golf Academy and got my degree in Golf. Have all my teaching certificates for every aspect of the golf game. I played professionally for 3 years on various tours throughout Southern California and Arizona. I worked for TaylorMade and Adidas golf for 6 years. And have a lot of great stories and experiences with many professional golfers on the PGA Tour. I'm 36 years old and love working with everyone including kids and seniors and I love to develop high school players and get them ready for the next level as well as help them personally anyway I can. I just love golf. I've lived it for over 30years. I understand the mental and physical side. I try to find unique characteristics about the swing that come natural to a golfer and use that to my advantage... unless its so bad we have to change it. Everyone's swing should be their own... but some teachers like to build every golfer the same way... through the same process, and yes... that can be effective, but it requires a ton of work. If you want to use what you have and build on it... and use it.. I'm your guy! I will also break you down if you're new to the game and build you up with all the fundamentals and make sure youre in good positions to swing without bad habbits. Everyones different and thats what i love about the golf swing.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Going through the fundamentals and making sure your... grip, aim, and setup are good. I check your lines... eyes, forearms, feet, hips etc. I go from there..
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
High school golf, lessons at oakmont, college golf, golf school, mini tours, working in the business for 7 years with Taylormade/ Adidas

How did you get started teaching?
Its just in my blood... it feels really good to share my experiences and work with people! I just love golf! And that means everyone... kids, older players, younger players, serious players, weekend warriors, women, men, whoever...

Working with some of the nurses at UPMC... super cool women. Loved the game. We progressed very fast and saw immediate results. big smiles. feels good.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find one you like... that has good energy! Too many pros are burnt out. Gotta find someone you can smile with and enjoy your lesson with..
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Your misses. All students have a miss... or slive or snap hook for example. Its hard to teach a student thats all over the place. Keep going to the range until you have something consistent... Dont try to impress us and change your swing becuase youre infront of a pro. Just relax and swing it... show me what you go through out there.... and lets fix it! I wont just fix it, but I'll help you understand why we're fixing it, and you'll keep that education long after you leave me.
