About

I'm a Colorado cowboy, i grew up on a cattle ranch, I have been riding horses all my life.

Along with teaching how to ride I teach Horsemanship I help you understand how a horse communicates with you, what a horse is thinking, so you know what a horse is going to do before he does it. which helps you become a better rider.

Horses are so much more than an animal to ride. They can be your best friend. Helpjng people understand how to communicate with a horse and seeing people enjoy the ride. It is a great feeling.

The individualized training. My husband and I are taking lessons together and Doug is able to teach us what we need to do while still making sure that we have fun. We feel fortunate and blessed to have found Havens Ranch!

Doug is very personable, and teaches you from the heart. He truly loves what he’s doing, and loves and respects the horses. He is extremely knowledgeable and shares his knowledge and experiences with you.
Unlike some of my past experiences, he doesn’t just throw you on a horse and tell you how to ride, he explains every step, and how to tell what the horse is thinking and how to react.
He is very understanding and let’s you work at your own pace, without trying to push you to the next level if you’re not ready.
We are so glad we found him!

Start by riding a round pen getting to konw the horse, working on balance and sitting in the saddle  then we move to a training area, it's a little more difficult then when you're ready start doing trail riding  or whatever you like to learn. As each lesson goes you will be learning about horses and how they think. How they act and how to communicate with them which in return will make you a very good and confident Rider.
