About
I began riding in 1953 with a former US Cavalryman. I was taught the US military or Fort Riley Seat , the ultimate purpose driven riding method. I learned that establishing comfort between the horse and rider leads to unity, the basis of effective riding. This principle remains the core of my teaching and training method. I worked on a California ranch as a young man and have gathered refinements in my riding from a diverse number of coaches and riders from expert Argentine polo players to an Olympic Team member.
I have coached nationally ranked riders and taught countless first time riders, as well as every step in between. The process is always the same, establishing increasing levels of unity between horse and rider regardless of age, ability or experience.
Before retiring from competition over 20 years ago, I competed in eventing, polo, dressage, team penning and other equestrian sports. I have been a Staff rider in two MFHA Hunts. I have owned farms in several east coast States where I taught and trained horses.
I will travel to your farm or event to evaluate, solve, coach or teach. I will also do video evaluations. I also teach riding and horse training remotely using Pivo tecnology.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I give lessons or horre training instruction at your farm with your horses. I begin by evaluating the rider's horse with them. Evaluation includes age, fitness, health history, conformation, movement, activity/competition hstory, and more. I observe the rider tacking up, mounting, warm up basic riding and any specialty movements the mount id called upong to accomplish regularly.
I am looking for communcation between the horse an rider in both directions, spicifically communcations of comfort or discomfort. I look for unity or disunity. And then we talk.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Lessons and training are $55.00 an hour plus an appropriate travel charge. People find they get more than their money's worth.
