SLF focuses on total horsemanship, not just riding! We ensure all of our clients instruction is focused on their level and desire. Want to show? We do that! Want to just learn to ride or get some exercise? We do that, too! Our instructor has 15+ years of teaching experience and has competed in English, Western, and Trail disciplines with 4-H and local show expertise. We will ensure you learn how to care for the horse, the equipment, and enjoy your ride time!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Call or text us today to discuss scheduling details. We recommend private or small group lessons for new students. Lessons are typically on the same 3-4 days a week. Contact us for availability.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
15+ years as a riding instructor with over 30 years of equine experience.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Private Lessons - $45/hour
Group Lessons - $40/hour/person
1/2 hour Private Lessons (recommended for very young children) - $35/hour
Additional feed apply for horse shows and other activities. Price list available upon request.
How did you get started teaching?
B.J. always had a passion for learning and helping others learn by Teaching younger members. B.J. began teaching at 16 and has continued to do so while obtain a degree in Human Development & Family Studies from Penn State to advance her career and assist with her understanding of learning and development to give a total understanding of the horses and riding dynamics.
What types of students have you worked with?
Ages 2+ through adults, some experience with special needs youth (*pleae note, we are not a therapeutic riding program, but we have extensive experience working with youth and adults with special needs and ASD)
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Ensure that you are comfortable. We are a more laid back barn and encourage comfort over high level competition. While we enjoy competition and winning is always fun, we strongly encourage setting goals and enjoying your time and experience as a priority.
