About

In college, I found and developed a love for dressage which has since changed myview on riding and teaching. Horse and Rider Bio-mechanics quickly became a major interest. Over the past few years, I have studied and applied a bio-mechanical approach to both my teaching and riding. My lessons concentrate on developing body awareness to create a balanced seat and heightened communication between horse and rider. Teamwork and fluid connection are greatly encouraged. Mary Wanless, Gillian Higgins, and Dr. Gerd Heuschmann have all been major influences in my bio-mechanical education as well as my own trainer and mentor, Holly Sands. I also work with riders who are timid, nervous, or struggle with confidence. I like to incorporate what I have learned at a clinic I attended with Daniel Stewart in confidence building in and out of the ring. My focus for my students isn’t winning blue ribbons, it’s obtaining set goals and creating a lasting partnership with their horse. I've been working with horses since I was 12 years old. I began as a hunter rider and competed in the low level, rated hunters for 5 years before moving to Ohio to pursue my Bachelors Degree at Lake Erie College. I graduated from LEC in 2010 with a degree in Equine Studies - double majoring in Teacher/Trainer and Facilities Managment. While in school, I competed in the IHSA (Intercollegiate Horse Show Association) for two years and was a member of the ICTA (Intercollegiate Combined Training Association) for two years. I have a comprehensive experience in Hunters, Jumpers, Dressage, and low level Eventing. LEC is where my passion for Dressage was realized and has grown exponentially ever since. After graduating, I ran the horse back riding program at Camp Seven Hills in Buffalo NY as the Equine Program Director for 3 seasons. There I taught a vast variety of beginner riders. In the off seasons, I continued to teach lessons at the barn where I boarded my horses. In 2014, I moved back home to the Dillsburg area and began teaching at a few local barns. At the end of 2015, work began with my father on planning our own facility. Owning and operating my own facility has always been a dream of mine. In March of 2016, Summerset Stables was born and in the summer of 2017, the first lessons were held on property. With a lot of patiences and hard work, my dreams have finally became a reality!
