One of the best coaches I worked with during my time in America. If I was still out there he would still be my coach.

Matt has been our kids golf coach for several years. We have a strong friendship and he is incredibly talented working with Junior Golfers of any Skill Level. We came to Matt 2 years ago because we were looking for a new golf coach for our 8 year old junior golfer Jackson. He had a very good natural swing , but was struggling in tournaments. Matt worked with Jack on swing mechanics , short game and course management and continues to work with Jack on a weekly basis. After a few months with Matt , things began to change and there was noticeable improvement. Since the Spring of 2015 , Jack greatly improved in his knowledge of the game , consistency , short game , putting, length of the tee, getting out of bad lies, accuracy and overall course management.
Jacks record since working with Matt:
49 Tournaments: 1st Place (22) 2nd Place (9) 3rd Place (9)
US Kids Local Champion - (Pinehurst & Nashville)
Tennessee State Champion (Sneds Tour- Boys 10-11(Micro Division)
Earned spots in the US Kids World Championships and IMG Junior Worlds
World Rank #52 - 10 year old Division.
Our daughter Gracie also works with Matt. She has been playing a couple of years and through Matts coaching, Gracie is really blossoming into a terrific junior golfer. Matt has helped Gracie with swing mechanics , chipping , putting and course management. Gracie loves working with Coach Matt, they have a lot of fun and every lesson Gracie tells me what she learned. Gracie has been playing competitively for about 18 months. She has a beautiful swing and continues to improve under Matts coaching.
Gracies Record since working with Matt:
12 tournaments : 1st place (6) 2nd place (4) 3rd Place (2)
US Kids Local Champion - Nashville
Tennessee State Champion - (Sneds Tour , Girls 8-11 micro)
Middle School Golf Team: Set new scoring record and team scoring record.
Summary:
Matt adapts quickly to each golfers unique swing. His lessons arent robotic, they are loose and fun but every lesson is instructive and valuable. I would recommend Matt Walter to any golfer of any skill level. He quickly sees swing flaws and quickly has a solution. His course management lessons are also incredibly valuable to any golfer wanting to learn how to score and not look ahead to the next shot , but simply play one shot at a time. Practicing bad lies , trouble shots and real world scenarios are very important to improving as a golfer and that is one of Matts strengths.
Contact Matt if you are interested in improving your game. Whether you are an adult golfer with bad habits or a junior golfer just starting out you cant go wrong with Matt... He is the best !!

Ive played golf for 45 years and have had lessons from a number of teachers. Hands down, Matt is the best Ive worked with. He very, very quickly has diagnosed the changes Ive needed to make, and then explained what I need to do in very clear terms. Hes been available whenever I have questions and has even reviewed videos Ive sent him when Ive had issues. At 67 and after having multiple orthopedic surgeries, Matt hasnt tried to remake my swing but has understood my limitations and maximized what I can do even with a repaired back. And besides all that, hes fun to be around. I highly, highly recommend him.

Matt is a great guy and an excellent coach. He really understands the golf swing and how to break it down so anyone can understand it. I would recommend him to anyone looking for an instructor.

Frequently asked questions

When I receive a new student I want to understand what their needs are and how they want to improve.  I then evaulate what the state of their game is and how their body is built and moves. Golf isn't a sport that you can force someone to make a swing their body won't allow.  After that I try to find the most effective way to communicate the golf swing so that the student has a full understanding of what is happening.

I helped my instructor operate a few junior clinics and saw how much fun it was and decided it was a career I wanted to pursue.  I had a natural eye to spot the flaws in the swing and was able to help friends throughout college.  Then after 2 years as an Assistant Professional I had to leave the golf shop to continue to build my business. Now my sole profession is teaching golf.

Don't be afraid to shop around and experiment with different instructors to make sure you find one that communicates with you and can give you results on the first day.

Do a self analysis about what happens in your round.  How many fairways do you miss, balls hit out of play, greens hit in regulation, up and downs, putts, etc.
