Andrea grew up an active Georgia 4-Her, mastering in horse quiz bowl, hippology and public speaking. She was successful showing horses in all-around events in 4-H and Pony of the Americas as a youth. Andrea attended Berry College in Rome, GA, where she received a B.S. in Animal Science and competed on the varsity equestrian team. While at Berry, she was a part of the first national championship western team in 2011. In 2012, Andrea was a reserve champion in team open horsemanship, which allowed her to represent IHSA in the first-ever Collegiate Horsemanship Challenge at the 2012 AQHA World Show. She completed her career at Berry with a fourth place finish in the AQHA collegiate cup, after recieving high scores in horsemanship and reining at the 2014 IHSA Nationals. Andrea also assisted with the management of the equestrian team, instructing horsemanship lessons, and the training of school horses.

In 2014, Andrea joined Middle Tennessee State University as a Graduate Assistant for the Horse Science center. During her time at MTSU she instructed horsemanship lessons for the equestrian team, assisted faculty with undergraduate courses, and traveled internationally as an AQHA Horsemanship Clinician to Sweden, Denmark, and the United Kingdom. She recieved the Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant award in 2016 for her work at MTSU and became a Certified Horsemanship Instructor for both Hunter Seat and Western disciplines. Andrea completed her research on Perceptions of Welfare Regulations at Stock-type Horse Shows and graduated from MTSU in August of 2016 with her M.S. in Horse Science (Equine Education).

Andrea joined the faculty in Horse Science at Middle Tennessee State University in August of 2016. As a lecturer, Andrea teaches undergraduate courses in horsemanship, equine assisted activities and therapies, event management, and introduction to animal science. Additionally, Andrea coordinates the Center of Equine Recovery for Veterans (CERV), a program established as a partnership with the Veterans Recovery Center In Murfreesboro, TN and Horse Science to provide services for Veterans diagnosed with a mental illness. Andrea also assists in coaching the equestrian team and the stock horse team.
