Idylwood Stables offers a fresh approach to English riding, focusing on Horsemanship to learn effective communication with our equine partners.
Idylwood takes riders from the very first time they mount a horse all the way to independence. We pride ourselves on producing a complete horse person, not just one who can ride a well-behaved horse.
Horseback riding is more than just a sport! Recent research shows that the effects of vibrations produced by horses during horse-riding lead to the activation of the sympathetic nervous system, which improves learning in children. And the equine-human bond is undeniable.
For me, experiencing the growth of the each individual as they come to this unique sport is both inspiring and intrinsically rewarding. I consider it an honor to be a participant in their journeys.
I love Idylwood Stables! Sydney is a wonderful human being and has so much passion for horses and training. She truly cares about her students and boarders. The number one priority at Idylwood is the happiness and health of the horses. They are treated like royalty! Her training style is very positive and encouraging. She will continue to challenge you, ultimately making you a more confident rider. I have tried almost every barn in the Austin area but none of them have that “barn family” feel like Idylwood! Feels like home.
Sydney is a great teacher and mentor. She provides a supportive environment for young riders, at all levels, to grow. As a parent, I really appreciate the confidence she helps foster in the students. In the last two years, my daughter has grown both as a rider and an individual.
Sydney gave me freedom to explore all parts of the sport, and working with her has made me a more confident and versatile rider. Idylwood feels like a family and is an amazing place to take lessons.
Idylwood welcomes riders of all ages and skill levels. The instructors and trainers are knowledgeable, caring and skilled at bringing out the best in every rider. The property is well maintained, with horses available for every level of rider. Seasonal camps offer great opportunities for kids to gain hands on knowledge of horsemanship. Idylwood is a great place to ride! It’s also a great place to board or lease a horse!
New riders will start in private lessons or small group lessons, mastering the basics in a fun and safe environment.
We teach everyone from pre-schoolers and seniors just learning to ride to those ready for competition.
Trainer Sydney Kornman grew up on a working farm and has ridden since early childhood. She trained on three continents before settling in Texas, bringing with her the best practices of different cultures. Her own method emphasizes confidence building in both horse and rider through a carefully designed curriculum tailored to each individual- human and equine.
