Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We place students in groups or private lessons depending on their ability level and age. Beginners take private lessons until they are able to steer and stop at the walk and trot.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a certified trainer with the United States Equestrian Federation and have 10 years experience as a professional instructor and rider.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Private lessons are $65/30m of ride time. Group lessons are $55/60m of ride time. Group lessons have 5 or fewer riders.
How did you get started teaching?
I have been riding since I was five years old and competing since the age of eight. After completing law school and working as a lawyer while juggling riding and competing on several horses, an opportunity to become the head trainer at a small barn in West Austin presented itself. I took the job and discovered that I love developing riders and horses and I have been teaching and riding full time ever since. I opened Monarch Stables in 2014.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with beginner through advanced child and adult riders. In addition to lessons, many of our clients compete locally, regionally, and nationally.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are your goals in this sport/what level of proficiency do you desire to acheive? How quickly do you wish to reach your goals? What discipline do you wish to study?
