The Golf Center At The Highlands
About
I am not a method teacher. I find what the student needs and work with their abilities and limitations to produce the best results possible. Having a diverse background myself, I am more than capable of working with all types of players and I have a wealth of technology at my disposal when necessary. High speed video, K-Vest bio feedback, Bodytrak pressure mat, Flightscope X-2 launch monitor amoung others. I have tested many training aids and have quite a few available for use as necessary.
It's simple, seeing people get better at the game of golf. Jim Flick taught me to help people using simple language, in short periods of time to coach people to become the best they can be at this wonderful yet somewhat sadistic game.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I will interview students to understand where they are in the game and what their goals are. In full swing lessons I will observe a few swings, do some physical assessment, and then we will take some video. The video will help explain why I would like proceed the way I suggest. I have access to a number of technologies which may be utilized to assist in the learning/coaching process. I ask that all first lessons be an hour in length.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been playing golf nearly 50 years. I've been teaching full time since 1995. I'm PGA Certified in instruction, but most of my training has come from working side by side with some of the finest instructors in the world. I taught for the Nicklaus/Flick Golf Schools for 7+ years along side National Teachers of the Year Jim Flick, Martin Hall, and Mike Malaska. Prior to that I worked on my own game with Chuck Cook, and worked for Hank Haney for about 2 years teaching his method. I've done much more than that, but I have used these experiences to develop my own philosophy.

How did you get started teaching?
I was a very good player, earning my PGA Tour Membership in 1988 and people just asked me questions and I enjoyed answering them and helping them play better. I did my first teaching in junior camps when I was 20.
What types of students have you worked with?
All levels and ages. Beginners to Tour Players. This sounds rather wide ranging and it is, but the best can help anyone.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
In 2015 I traveled with a student of mine to the Women's US Open, aside from being proud of her for qualifying to play in the event, it also took me back to my Open experience in 1988.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Don't let price be your determining factor. Your paying for knowledge, and experience. Those factors should allow a coach to get you to your goals in fewer hours of instruction.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are your true goals, and do a real self assessment of your game. Short game and putting may be the fastest way to better scores even though hitting it better may be what you think you want. At the end of the day all anybody else wants to know is what did you shoot, not how did you play.
