About
Teaching is my passion, whether it's training the horse or the rider, or getting the horse and rider on the same page. I use positive reinforcement only, never push beyond the limits of what the rider is comfortable with. Riding without tears! I use games as well as obstacle courses to get the rider accustomed to certain aspects of horsemanship. We start with grooming and tacking up, ground work (such as lunging the horse) to gain the horse's respect, and learn all aspects of horse philosophy while learning to ride so the student understands WHY the horse behaves the way it does. Safety first always. We start in the arena but move to trails, a creek, pastures, and more advanced trails as soon as the student is proficient with the basics of riding. Specialty training such as barrels or playday events, problem solving, and confidence courses also available! Nobody is too old or too young to learn. Ground work courses only are also available for people that can ride effectively but want more control or to learn some tricks with their horse when it isn't under saddle. My favorite parts of teaching is all the people I meet, and watching either the horse or the rider "click" with the lesson when you can tell they understand and the self pride they get out of it.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
All new students will be asked their previous knowledge and experience at the first lesson or two, we will assess any goals you may have, answer any questions, and have fun!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I and a learnaholic when it comes to horses. I read, watch training videos, review performances, attend clinics and seminars, etc. I follow natural horsemanship methods. I feel riding should be fun for the person and the horse if you want the best partnership possible!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Lessons are $40/hour if you come to me. If I come to you, price will be discussed for travel time on an individual basis. It's pay-as-you-go, almost all lessons are private unless you specifically want to join a group, such as to get your horse more social around other horses for trail rides or events.
