Roger knows music. He can spot my weaknesses and help me overcome them. His lessons help me stay motivated to practice. His major was music composition.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

My process is a collaboration between the student, his other music/band teachers and myself. The main goal is the overall enrichment of the student's musical experience through practice and performance experience.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Four Years of music study at UNT, Music Composition major and Woodwind Performance minor. Decades of performing professionally in the DFW area and a long and impressive list of past clinets

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

Generally my lesson fee is $25 per 30 minute session.

How did you get started teaching?

My music teachers have been without exception truly inspirational to me. My first try at teaching was at the request of my High School band director who asked me to cover a couple of classes of his 5-6th grade beginning band for him at the adjoining elementary school. I know then this was something I would enjoy doing, but I didn't know I would still be doing it decades later!

What types of students have you worked with?

I have taught students as young as 12 all the way up through junior college, and have even had a few seniors (age 55+) as students/

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Look for someone with lots of chops and good communication skills.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

What am I trying to acheive? Do I only want help with my band music or do I want to try to enrich and improve my self and my playing?

How long do I have to practice each day?

How long before I can start seeing results?
