Matea is wonderful! She accommodates our busy schedule and is incredibly patient with the rider and horse alike. Our 9 year old received riding lessons for her birthday, and it has been a great experience. Highly recommend!

Having ridden very little in the past, then on well broke horses, I felt that I would gain from taking some instruction in horsemanship. I have my own horse now and wanted to know how I could help us both. Matea is very patient and knowledgeable and helped me learn more about communicating with my horse. She reinforced what I knew in my heart, that there was more to riding than not falling off. I will continue to work with my horse over the winter and hopefully be back in class soon.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I will chat with you to outline goals and you can customize your lesson to get specific issues addressed.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

During high school, she interned with Tony and Jenny Vaught. She developed skills with gaited horses and started her first colt at 14 years old. She continued her education towards the horse profession by completing a certification as a Rider Biomechanics Coach at age 17. After high school, she passed her Parelli Level 4 (which inculded Liberty and Bridleless riding). To Matea, it’s not just about fixing an issue, but helping you learn to understand and develop a partnership with your horse. Her heart is with helping others and bringing out the best in you and your horse.

How did you get started teaching?

I got started teaching when I was 17 years old. My passion is sharing my horse training knowledge and my love of horses! I have a lot of experience helping rider's gain confidence and helping them gain the knowledge they need to be successful with their horse.
