About
Looking for a small, quiet environment to take horseback riding lessons? Look no further! Come join us at our little slice of heaven here at Summit View Stables. I teach beginner - advanced English riding lessons in dressage, jumping, and endurance. Students have the unique opportunity for trail riding, competing, and endurance riding!
I also teach basic western riding, horsemanship, groundwork and training.
What I enjoy most is sharing my passion for horses and riding with others. I teach from the ground up- you will learn horse care, grooming, tacking up, riding and post-ride care here at Summit. I also provide coaching in endurance (long-distance) riding and have horses trained specifically for this super cool sport. If you are a rider who longs for adventure outside of the arena, and is an advocate for your horse's welfare, endurance is for you!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I discuss with the student their experience level and like to meet with them in person to match them to the right horse. The first lesson is a get-to-know you day- I show you around the barn, introduce you to your horse, show you how to groom and tack up, and have a quick riding session to see and understand your current riding ability.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I myself have taken English riding lessons for 21 years, and continue to do so. You never stop learning in this sport!
I worked at an English riding stable for 8 years, doing everything from feeding and cleaning to exercise riding and training school horses.
Before finding endurance riding, I worked as a large animal veterinary technician, a ranch hand, and was also trained in western pleasure, barrels, and reining.
I found endurance riding 3 years ago and have been hooked ever since! Since my first season, I have successfully completed 13 long-distance races (a total of 325 miles), placing in top ten 8 of those 13 rides, placing in Rookie of the Year in 2019, and placing for Mountain Region High Mileage Award 2020. I am so passionate about this sport and hope I can bring you along for the adventure!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Each arena riding lesson is $40 and is about 45 minutes long. For the first month students pay lesson by lesson to make sure we are a good fit. Beyond that, lessons are paid for and scheduled a month in advance on a subscription-like basis. Cancellations by student are not refunded, however I do my very best to reschedule as I understand things come up.
What types of students have you worked with?
Beginners, intermediate and advanced riders. Children ages 8 and up, and adults wanting to learn to ride!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Finding the right riding instructor is a 3-part formula... you need to find an instructor whose personality fits well with you, a program that has horses you are comfortable and enjoy riding, and an environment that feels friendly for you. I recommend finding a program that pushes you JUST A TAD out of your comfort zone, so that you learn and grow. Avoid places that are so easy going you don't learn at all, or places that stress you out or make you worried! Learning to ride should be both enjoyable and challenging.
