Rising K Ranch
About
My name is Klay Klemic and I have been riding horses all my life, and have had the opportunity to learn from several horsemen and cowboys. I have worked horses on large cattle ranches in Northern Nevada, Northern Utah, New Mexico and Arizona, which taught me how to get by with a rope and how to handle cattle from horseback, as well as how to work long hours and ride rough horses. Thankfully, I have also had the opportunity to learn some refinement from reining and cowhorse trainers such as nearby Jim Montgomery in Veyo Utah
At Rising K Ranch, my team and I teach Reining & Cowhorse as well as General Horsemanship. Our goal is to teach you how to work with your horse with a willing partnership and make you competent riding a horse all over the mountains as well as in the show arena and on working cattle ranches.
We take all ages of students, and our lessons will be designed individually for your own goals and interests.

My favorite part is making good horses. The Horse Training end of it is the reason I got into this business.
Making good riders, however, is also very rewarding provided you are the type of person who is here to LEARN, not to show me how much you already know and not to complain about what you can't do. If you are the type of person who wants to learn real horsemanship- and that means not just sitting in the saddle, but understanding the horse's history, anatomy, and natural behaviour, then I would love to have you out here to Rising K Ranch.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
For beginners to horseback riding, our first lesson is usually just a very simple introduction to our ranch and to horseback riding, followed by an hour or so trail ride through the mountains. While we are on our trail ride, we will discuss your detailed goals and simply get a feel for where you are wnd where you want to go with your horsemanship.
For more experienced students, we usually start right off on an introduction to reining horses and to cowhorses. We will put you on a gentle horse first that still has some feel to him and is able to collect and stop etc. and if it seems you are ready, we will put you on a more athletic and responsive reining horse and begin to teach you how to ride him.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been riding horses my entire life, and have had the opportunity to learn from several great horsemen as well as a few good cowboys. I have worked from horseback on large cattle ranches in Northern Nevada, Northern Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico, which taught me how to work long hours and stay on top of a few rough horses. Thankfully, I went on to learn some refinement in horsemanship from some good full-time reining and cowhorse trainers, such as nearby Jim Montgomery in Veyo, Utah.
