About
RedGateFarm is a full-service equestrian center in Bluemont, Virginia offering boarding, lessons, leases, summer camps, and horse shows. We offer private, semi private, and group lessons, and can serve from age four to 94! We even have preschooler classes for ages younger than four. With many different instructors, horses and ponies, and a multi million dollar facility, we are open every day.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
If the student is a beginner, we start with the basics on the ground including grooming and tacking the horse. Then we progressed to mounting, steering, stopping and starting. If the student has experience already, we start at the beginning and progress through an evaluation to determine the students riding level.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
All of our instructors have background checks, and have taken safe sport training. Many have had many years experience teaching various levels. Some coach teams here that are competitive against other barns.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Private lessons cost $95, semi private lessons cost $75, and group lessons cost $65 per lesson.
How did you get started teaching?
I have been teaching for 35 years personally, and many of my instructors have similar experience. We have instructors that focus on beginners and children, others that work with equitation, and still further some that concentrate in the sport of eventing.
