About

Hello, email me with inquiries at [email protected], or call/text at (571)236.8625.

My teachings create a foundation for riders that will enable them to ride with confidence, balance, self awareness, and sensitivity. I teach horsemanship and care alongside riding, and encourage an attitude of gratitude and perseverance.

I teach out of Hope and Serenity Farm in Nokesville, VA. We accept riders and people of all ages, disabilities, abilities, and backgrounds. We specialize with children that are ADHD, bipolar, or any other mental dysfunction.

I have been riding since I was a young child. I started at a big lesson barn and gradually moved into private lessons to specialize in the world of show jumping and eventing. I now love to teach young riders and bring them up into being respectful horse people and productive members of the community, while still competing and training to follow my own dreams of riding in the upper levels of competition.

Horse riding can be an expensive sport, which is what makes most people choose not to do it, and I am one of those people that struggled with funding my own riding and education. I have learned through hard work and never giving up, that the right opportunities will appear, which can make one’s dreams that seemed impossible become possible. It takes a village... And I am thriving from the village I have been apart of! Life will give you what you give. That is one thing I like to help children learn, so that they figure out quickly that if you are kind and patient to your horse, you will reap the benefits!

I will help you get the most out of your lessons and time invested into the sport of horse riding. For me, horses are a lifestyle!

I am a dedicated and passionate horsewoman with a strong suit in eventing/jumping. While I love competition in the horse world, at the end of the day all that is important is the horse and its well being. I love the care and maintenance aspect of the horses and strive to always do right by them.

I believe that this sport not only teaches one to ride a horse, but also how to live life respectfully and dutifully. I like to think that I am teaching life lessons alongside the riding and horsemanship. The skills and knowledge from working with horses translates right into the real world and dealing with one's self and others. It is important for young people to understand how they affect others, and horses have a way of reflecting those who interact with them.

I love that she meets me and the horses where we are at and then adjusts the lessons accordingly. We are working with older abused horses and I am an older learner.

She is a professional horseman 100%. My daughter has been riding with her for year now and started with zero experience. Tamara has taught her, not only to ride, but also all the aspects of owning a horse including barn maintenance, and Horse care. She is gentle, yet strong. She knows how to work with children of all ages. My daughter has grown tremendously as an equestrian under her guidance. I highly recommend taking lessons from Tamara, because not only are you receiving amazing quality riding lessons but you’re also receiving them from an amazing human being.

Tamara is extremely knowledgeable and professional. When you are with her you can tell she genuinely loves what she’s doing, that love translates to her riders. She is patient and thorough and doesn’t miss any steps in ensuring her riders are safe, well-instructed and master all necessary steps before progressing. I am 100% certain that my child is safe, learning horsemanship, perseverance and gaining a love, passion and respect for riding and horses. This is all thanks to Tamara. My daughter loves her and riding! We wholeheartedly and highly recommend her as an instructor.

Tamara takes her time with her students. She makes sure they know how retrieve a horse from field, how to groom before a lesson and, more importantly, why it is important to groom before and after a ride and as you are grooming and tacking she will also teach about the horses anatomy. Tamara does not rush a lesson, she teaches her students about the importance of connecting with your horse, why hands, posture, your leg movement and other signals are important and how the horse interprets all of these to make the students ride and lesson successful. Tamara stresses the importance of horsemanship first and then the ride will go well. She is truely a horsewoman. The horses she works with adore her, I see it when I am at the stables, and she them. I could not have chosen a better trainer for my beginner rider. If you want a knowledgeable, caring, trainer who will take her time to make sure you or your child will be a great horse person as well as rider then I cannot stress enough how much we adore Tamara and that you should hire her.

    Frequently asked questions

I assess where they are mentally, physically, and educationally, and we take it from there, step by step. I want to ensure that my students are safe and capable of handling new tasks or challenges before we move on.

I have been riding and taking horse riding lessons since I was a child. I am educated in anatomy, biomechanics, horse care, and have specialized in eventing. I currently take lessons with an FEI dressage judge and coach to continue my education and training.

    $60 per hour lesson

    $75 for a 90 minute lesson

Certain school horses require a “rental” fee, which occasionally will be an addditional $5-10 per lesson

A friend’s daughter became interested in riding. So I took her on as a student, which referred me to more students, and the lessons grew.

Beginners to advanced beginners/intermediate, as well as adult amateurs, so on.
