Matt helped me find the swing that was most natural to me. After an hour of drills and instruction he had me hitting the ball straighter and more consistent than i ever had. All because the adjustments he made benefited the way my body was supposed to swing. I highly recommended Matt if you are looking to find improvements in your game.

I started working with Coach Ball I think just over a year and half ago. Within a years time I saw and felt a lot of improvement in my game and my confidence. We would always work on things that would help improve my game in the long run and not just quick fixes. At the end of lessons I would always walk away feeling very good and wanting to immediately work on what we talked about.

Coach Ball is much more than a swing coach. Of course he fixed my grip, gave me some great drills and throughly explained what I was doing wrong and how to fix it. The thing though I liked most is he gives you a great blue print on how to play and approach the game the right way. Coach ball is adamant about the process and as I have continued to work on that process it has lead to lower and lower scores and more distance! Great guy! Won’t regret it.

Matt’s been teaching my 15 year old son for years. His goal is to play college golf at a high level. Matt communicates instruction with a perfect blend of not-too-much talking, feelings, and drills. It seems every lesson we see immediate improvement. I think Matt’s background of having two sons that played D1 golf, and professional golf, as well as having coached at that level give him technical experience and the ability to individualize his instruction. Moreover, Matt knows what to say at both high points and low points, and keeps my son positive and motivated. He is a true mentor.

    Frequently asked questions

We first talk about their goals and make sure they are realistic based on time available for practice.  Learn of any physical limitations and move into their motion. Then I perform 6 movement tests and measurements to develop a personalized foundation for their individual golf swing. There is no one golf swing that suites everyone. Our goal will be to find the best ways for you to swing the club to give you your best results. We identify the parameters and get to work. It's amazing how quickly people improve this biomechanics based program that is so simple. Can't wait to see you play your best golf.

Was Director of Instruction at the Country Club of Virginia prior to 2 head profession jobs. Then I coached Division 1 Virginia Commonwealth University for 22 years winning 23 tournaments, 10 NCAA Appearances and 3 players on the PGA Tour and European Tour. An in depth study of Bioswing Dynamics has enabled me to truly individualize instruction to any age, gender or ability level player. It makes the program simple and specific for that individual.

Started teaching by assisting my college golf coach with his free clinics he gave every week at the course the he owned where we practiced.  Turned professional after college and my passion has always been learning all I can about the swing and how to best play the game.  Many seminars and certifications.

I have worked with beginners to players on the PGA Tour.  Many of my college players have gone on to successful careers playing professionally all over the world.  I prefer to work with players who already have a motion and can break 90 to help them learn to score better as opposed to building new golf swings from scratch.  There are other teachers who have more patience for that part.

One of my players shooting 60 in Web.com Tour Q School.  To see all of the work completely come together with no limitations to what is possible.

If you are a beginner or get your enjoyment from practicing a lot, seek out a swing teacher for which there are many.  If you want to learn to play better golf find a coach who can help with all parts of the game including going out on the course.

Learn about their background and training.  Golf instruction has now become a specialty all its own.  It used to be that club pros gave most of the lessons and many do teach well, but keeping up with the world of golf instruction is a full time job and to find someone well rounded in all aspects is rare.
