Through Dressage
About
A student and teacher of Dressage for over 35 years, Erin is a USDF Silver/Bronze Medalist and a USDF Certified Trainer/Instructor. She has a unique and proven approach to instructing student and horses in Dressage with an emphasis on classical training scale, rider position, mindful awareness, and safety on and around horses. Erin herself continues her education with nationally and internationally renowned trainers to ensure that she brings the best training to her students and their horses.
Erin brings more than three decades of experience as both a student and accomplished teacher of dressage, shaping horse-and-rider partnerships with depth, precision, and intention. A USDF Silver and Bronze Medalist and USDF Certified Trainer/Instructor, she combines proven expertise with a thoughtful, evolving approach grounded in the principles of the classical training scale.
Her teaching goes beyond technique. Erin is known for developing riders who are not only effective, but aware—cultivating correct position, refined communication, and a deep sensitivity to the horse’s physical and emotional experience. Each lesson emphasizes harmony, biomechanics, and clarity, helping horses become more confident and responsive while riders gain confidence, feel, and responsibility.
Safety and horsemanship are foundational in Erin’s program. Students learn to think critically, ride intentionally, and handle horses with respect and understanding both in and out of the saddle.
Committed to lifelong learning, Erin regularly trains with nationally and internationally respected clinicians, ensuring her program reflects both classical integrity and modern insight. This ongoing education allows her to bring fresh perspective, proven methods, and a high standard of excellence to every horse and rider she works with.
Whether guiding competitive goals or nurturing foundational skills, Erin develops thoughtful, capable riders and well-balanced horses—built on trust, understanding, and correct training.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Initial evaluation consists of a conversation where the new student has a chance to explain riding goals and ask any questions and share areas of focus. I ask the rider to ride/warmup their horse and together we develop a training plan.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am also a teacher of trauma informed gentle yoga as well as having decades of experience in animal rescue.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $100 per lesson at my farm and charge a farm call to travel elsewhere which varies with the distance traveled.
How did you get started teaching?
Gerd Zuther of November Hill Farm, an early employer and mentor encouraged me to start teaching in 1993 and I never stopped!
What types of students have you worked with?
Riders of all ages and levels, dressage, event, pleasure riders, and hunter/jumpers. My specialty is young horses but I love using the power of dressage to work with horses of all ages, breeds, and abilities.
