Tim Grogan has been a golf professional in the Milwaukee area since 1992 and has directed the instructional programs at Missing Links of Mequon since 1995. As the Head Golf Coach at Marquette University for nineteen years, Tim recruited and instructed many of Wisconsin’s top juniors along with coaching the nations top collegiate players in 2009. As a player, he competed in the Greater Milwaukee Open and played collegiate golf at UNLV.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

First, understand the students golf background. This could range from no golf experience to tournament player experience. Knowing past instructional experience is important also. Next, find out goals. Why does the beginner want to play? Current golfer: what are your goals? What is your weakness? Where do you want to be this golf season and next? Once we understand these questions a correct plan can be implemented to achieve stated goals.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I earned my PGA Membership in 1997. I enjoyed my Apprenticeship working under two PGA Hall of Famers, and other awarded PGA Professionals. In 2005, was awarded PGA Certification in Instruction, one of the first two in our Wisconsin PGA. One of the PGA’s highest honors. In addition, became Titleist TPI Certified in Golf Fitness in 2009. Also, V1 Certification for Video Instruction in years 2005-present.

How did you get started teaching?

I believe my start actually started as an eleven year old Caddy. Watching the various golfers and the mistakes they would make. Next, earning a Golf Scholarship to UNLV, gave me the opportunity to learn the golf swing and see up close what the Nations top players did well. Next, I was hired as the Head Coach at Marquette University at age 23.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with all types from beginners to top professionals. Proud of the many juniors golfers that have gone on to play college golf.
