I studied classical piano for 10 years and have a minor in music from Carroll University. I studied piano & music theory with Ray Santisi. Ray was an instructor at the Berklee School of Music in Boston. I played piano in the Lobby Bar of the Pfister Hotel for over 25 years. In 2020, the Pfister cut back on their entertainment due to the Covid. I have also played for Royal Caribbean Ships and other cruise lines. I only teach 1-hour lessons. However, the lessons can be EVERY WEEK OR EVERY OTHER WEEK. I only teach students that are 18 or older. My schedule is quite flexible as day of the week and time of day. The instructional series I use are

Leica J. says, "Dr. Iacob has been an extraordinary piano teacher for my son, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. Over the past several years, my son has flourished under Dr. Iacob’s guidance, showing remarkable improvement in both his technical skills and musical expression. His ability to play complex pieces with precision and emotion has grown tremendously, and it’s clear that Dr. Iacob’s teaching methods are both effective and inspiring. What sets Dr. Iacob apart is his ability to instill confidence in his students. My son used to be hesitant and unsure about performing, but Dr. Iacob’s patient, encouraging approach has transformed him into a confident young musician who now looks forward to recitals and sharing his music with others. Dr. Iacob takes the time to understand my son’s unique strengths and challenges, tailoring lessons to keep him engaged and motivated. Beyond his expertise, Dr. Iacob’s passion for music is contagious, and his dedication to his students is truly exceptional. He has not only helped my son grow as a pianist but has also sparked a lifelong love for music. We are so grateful to have Dr. Iacob as a teacher and mentor!" Read more

What are classical piano lessons?

Classical piano lessons teach you the traditional playing style of music written by composers like Mozart and Beethoven. You'll also learn important techniques and how to read sheet music of classical arrangements.

How long must you take piano lessons to play classical?

You must take piano lessons for 1 to 2 years with consistent practice to play simple classical pieces. Some people can make faster progress if they practice more often or have prior musical experience.

How long are classical piano lessons?

Classical piano lessons are 30 to 60 minutes long on average. The amount of time varies according to the teacher's style and the abilities of the student.

How do I find the best classical piano lessons near me?

Find classical piano lessons from private instructors by looking through the listings here on the Lessons website. Local music schools sometimes offer virtual lessons online as well.

Prior to hiring a local piano instructor, you should always:

  • Secure a minimum of 3 lesson cost estimates to get a clear comparison.
  • Read their ratings on sites such as Lessons and Google.
  • Talk to students on their references list.
  • Collect a written agreement and a lesson timeline before lessons begin.
  • Wait until after your preliminary sessions to start pre-booking for a month of lessons.

What question do I ask when choosing classical piano lessons?

When you're searching for a piano teacher, be sure to ask these questions:

  • How many years have you been teaching piano?
  • What is your formal music education background?
  • Which classical music composers are your favorites?
  • What is the typical age range of your students?
  • Do you offer a trial lesson, either for free or at a discounted rate?
  • If I don't have a piano, what type of keyboard should I get for practicing?
  • How much practice should I be doing outside of our lessons?
  • What textbooks do I need, and what's their cost?
  • Do you give assignments or pieces to memorize after each lesson?
  • Can you adapt your teaching style based on the individual student's needs?
  • What should I bring with me to our lessons?
  • How many different piano genres and styles can you teach?
  • Can I get a written copy of our agreement and the payment terms?
  • What is your policy for cancelling a lesson?
  • Will I be able to choose some of my own favorite songs to learn?

Ms. Jennifer did a wonderful job with my two daughters, ages 8 and 7. In the short few months they had with Jennifer I feel they had amazing progress. Additionally she is very accommodating to any concerns we may have brought to her. She always keeps us up to date on their progress and what they need to focus on. I would have continued to keep my girls with her for the long term but sadly we are moving out of state. I would highly recommend her!

My granddaughters started with Mr Carl at ages 4 and 6 and we are really happy with their progress. He has infinite patience, provides clear instruction, is encouraging and sensitive to their individual learning styles. He has a knack for teaching children that they really respond to. The girls are progressing nicely and they love going.

I had not played the piano for many, many years. Dr Iacob has incredibly patience and I learn new things every lesson. He understands and encourages me to meet my goals. At first I thought Dr. Iacob was too qualified to teach a senior citizen such as myself, and I wasn’t sure he would be right for me. I am happy to say I was mistaken and I look forward to ever lesson.

Daniel has been fantastic with my 8 year old. He has been taking lessons with Daniel for almost a year now and his growth has been incredible. Daniel has taught my son to play with music that my son chooses and now he can just look at any chord sheet and just play. It’s unbelievable. If you are hesitant about virtual, I just want to say how awesome Daniel is with it. He catches everything. He is so observant. I couldn’t recommend him enough!
