About
Rodrigo Pessoa, cellist, has been performing chamber music and concerts in Brazil and in the USA since 2002. His orchestral experiences include the post of principal cello of the University of New Mexico Symphony, Lubbock Civic Orchestra, and Anchorage Civic Orchestra. He also played the cello sectional for the Amarillo Symphony Orchestra, Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, and the Anchorage Chorus Concert. He has performed at the Meyerson Symphony Center (Dallas, Texas) along with the world-renowned mezzo-soprano Susan Graham while assistant principal of the TTU Symphony Orchestra. As a recitalist and chamber musician, he has presented concerts in different venues in Brazil and the USA.
He has successfully taught thousands of students in private schools, music projects, lab schools, and Suzuki Method Studios in Brazil and the USA. He has served as a clinician and cello coach in many Strings Camps in Brazil, Texas, and Louisiana. He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the Federal University of Sao Carlos (Brazil), a Master’s Degree in Cello from UNM, and a earned the title of Doctor of Musical Arts at Texas Tech University. Currently, he is the Orchestra Director at Dimond High School and the conductor of the ASD All-City Orchestra.
