About

My teaching approach:

I feel all students have individual tastes and needs. My job as their teacher is to give them what they want to learn while at the same time teaching them how the guitar works in songs...what lead guitar is, what rhythm guitar is, and how to accompany the voice.

My influences are:

Michael Martin Murphey, Doug Green, Asleep at the Wheel,James Taylor...so many more

My guitar lessons take place in:

The teacher's studio

Guitar Lessons with me take place in the following areas:

Chicago Store East, 7030 Broadway

Guitar Techniques:

Lead guitar, Rhythm guitar, Fingerstyle, Vocal Accompaniment, Performance, Improvisation, Reading Music, Music Theory, Scales and Exercises, Song Writing, Guidance In Equipment Selection

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following:

I get to know them and their tastes in guitar music. I make sure that the instrument is working properly and tuned. If they have been self-taught, I take a look at what they are able to play and build from that.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:

I would start the lesson with a few warm-ups, and then get right into the current style or challenge the student is facing. I don't recommend overloading students with too much information. If a student wants to become a pro, I would design the lesson around that. If the student wants to play for their own enjoyment, I would make sure that they have what they need to make playing fun and entertaining.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:

One who is motivated to practice what I give them, so when the next lesson rolls around, new material can be given.
