About
Bonjour! (Hello)!
The main difference with my service is that I work hard to ensure that my lessons aren't... boring! I focus on a great deal of interaction, so that students are constantly practicing how to pronounce French words correctly.
Trust me- you Can learn to speak French! I've been teaching French via Zoom for over a year, and students tell me they look forward to my lessons. I also teach in-person if preferable, and you live in north San Diego. (Rate slightly different if in-person).
My mother spoke French, and my degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara is in French language, history, and literature . I was lucky to live in France for several magical years. I'm also a credentialed substitute teacher for the Vista school district.
I teach French part-time, grades 1-8, at a private school in Fallbrook. I also currently tutor kids privately, and several adults - age 30 to 65- mainly on how to converse in French. Am happy to provide references.
You Can learn a language, and have fun doing it!
Merci (thank you),
Lyn

The interaction with students, and seeing them improve over time, gives me great satisfaction. We also always have a few laughs in our lessons!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My first goal is to establish a good rapport with the student and parents, if any. That’s critical. Then I figure out what level the student is at, in order to pick up where previous lessons (if any) left off.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My college degree is from the Univ of California, San Diego in French, with a minor in Italian. I lived several years in both those countries. I’m a qualified substitute teacher for the Vista school district, specialising in English and French. I also teach French part- time at a school in Fallbrook, and have several private adult students I tutor in-person and online. I've taught for over 6 years.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've worked with kids aged 6-16 in a classroom environment (and I still do, although it's via Zoom for the moment). I also tutor private students currently, kids and adults aged 8 to 65!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I was lucky to visit my daughter in South Africa! The gorgeous nature there, and the people, always make me want to go back ....
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I suggest you look for someone who enjoys people, and teaches because they want to, not because they have to teach. Finding someone with whom you can have a good, comfortable rapport is essential, I think.
