About

Tappy Feet dance classes were created to help adults reignite their unbridled creativity by providing a safe environment and community where people overcome their fear of failure and celebrate their successes together.

We work with all levels of tap dancers - from those who have never even seen a tap shoe to those who have tap danced for years. We even provide shoes to borrow for free so that you can give it a try!

We are known for showing up at events with our portable tap dance floor and shoes so that we can let as many people try tap dance as possible. We consider ourselves to be Ambassadors of Tap Dance, bring this art form to those who have always loved it's percussive cadence.

In our all-levels tap class, we move from a setting of working together and supporting one another at our various levels to working in two separate groups - "newbies" and experienced tap dancers. We work at a pace that is comfortable to those trying out our classes for the first time, and we add additional challenges for our regulars, who continue to improve in skill, speed and clarity.

Additionally, we are one of the most affordable dance classes out there. We offer lower rates, not because we are not worth more than that, but rather because we just want everyone to break out of the monotonous patterns of adulthood and try something playful, challenging and rewarding. We believe that doing something like this combats depression and social anxiety because of the natural support system built into it. We want to get adults dancing. We offer lower rates simply because we care.

so, come borrow some tap shoes and give it a try! We would love to have you in class!

Kristen Jorden and Molly Dyer are the Tap Enthusiast Co-Owners & Co-Instructors of Tappy Feet. For more information on them, visit our website at www.tappyfeet.squarespace.com

What we love more than any aspect of our job is building community - a lot of people make friends in our tap group. Secondly, we are enthusiastic Ambassadors of Tap, bring tap dance to those who have always wanted to try it and to those who need it in their lives at an affordable rate.

Other aspects of our job that we love:

-Using rhythm and percussion to be creative

-Doing brain teasers and promoting healthy brain function (getting that message from your brain to your feet can occasionally be pretty challenging!)

-Physical movement that involves a lot of practice with balance and coordination

-Writing choreography that involves percussion of all types (we have been known to use pots and pans and pvc pipes in our Stomp-inspired choreography).

-Working with multiple levels is highly rewarding - the new tap dancers discover a love of this style of dance and slowly conquer step by step, while the advanced tap dancers can playfully enjoy the exercises and choreography and also help the new tap dancers with various skills and steps. It is through this system of support that friendships grow.
