About
My goal, as a teacher, is to enable students to experience the joy of making music. To accomplish this they are taught the fundamentals of reading a music score and applying basic principals of performing so that they and their listeners are pleased with the result. Each student is taught at a pace that is appropriate for him or her, tailoring material that fits their strengths and areas needing development.
I teach beginning through advanced levels and my membership in national, state, and local music teachers associations provide students opportunities to participate in various events for performing and evaluation.
My Bachelor of Piano Performance degree is from Florida Southern College where I received the Robert Gaylor Music Medal for Outstanding Senior Musician. Further study was with concert artists/teachers Gerald Snyder and Phillipe Drevet. Attending national music conferences and international piano competitions increased my exposure to a wide range of repertoire and artistic expression.
Music Teachers Association has named me a Foundation Fellow for outstanding contribution to the music teaching profession. I am a Past President of Florida State Music Teachers Association and hold a Certificate of Professional Advancement from that organization. I am a co-author and publisher of Music Masters Theory and Chairman of the Coral Springs Center for the National Guild of Piano Teachers. While these achievements and honors are gratifying my greatest satisfaction is seeing the look of pride on students' faces when they accomplish a musical goal. After all, it IS all about the student.
Two Studio Piano Recitals each year together with other performance opportunities ensure students and their families hear and see the benefits of piano study.
See the musical growth of students and helping them experience the rewards of piano study. Guiding talented high school students toward appropriate colleges and universities to further their piano study. I've had many students study piano in colleges and universities, all of whom were accepted by the teacher of their first choice

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
For transfer students, determine what their skill level is and what areas need to be strengthened. To engage beginning students on a personal level so they will feel excited about learning to play.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started at age five and studied eleven months of every year through college. After college I continued to study for another six years. A course in Piano Pedagogy was most helpful. Listening to fine artists and recordings further added to my knowledge.
