Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I'll respond to your request with a quote and some details and we'll get in contact online or on the phone. Then I'll do an evaluation of your needs according to what your learning goals are and I'll propose a game plan. The first 30 to 60-minute test lesson will be free. If you like it, great, we'll continue. If not, that's fine too and I'll wish you all the best to find a teacher that meets your need.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
25 years teaching experience in the UK, France, Kenya, the Cayman Islands and the US, from age 5 to adults. 100% pass rate in all exam classes.
PGCE in language teaching from Exeter University, UK.
Florida K-12 teaching certification.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Once the free lesson is complete, full payment of the next lesson will be expected 12 hours before its date and time.
If a student cancels/reschedules a lesson more than twice, a non-refundable deposit will be introduced to be paid at the time of scheduling.
In the rare occurence that the teacher may have to cancel or reschedule a lesson, a full refund will be issued.
How did you get started teaching?
Passion. I never wanted to do anything else.
What types of students have you worked with?
All ages, internationally, all levels.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Silver lining of the COVID-19 crisis: Online learning, which I strongly believe in, is being rethought, reviewed and revalued.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Try out a few people. I think that the first meeting with someone should always be free so that you can see if you are a fit for each other.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are you willing to put in? Are you prepared to commit? What you get is what you give, whatever the teacher. I will tell you straight out if I feel that the effort is not there and won't let you waste your money.
