I tried a couple native-speaker tutors in the past, but I personally believe that the best foreign language tutors are non-native speakers who once had to go through the same struggles as the students they are teaching. That being said, you would never know that Gabe isn't a native French speaker! I'm an adult learner and I don't spend any time in a classroom/taking exams. So Gabe has been able to customize the content of our lessons to accommodate my specific goals. I speak Spanish and while Gabe doesn't tutor students in Spanish, he is basically fluent and is able to effectively help me to connect the dots between the two languages which has helped me immensely to understand some of the more complex grammar concepts that they share.
