Garit has asked me to wright something about my progress, personally I think it is a bit to early, because I have had only 4 lessons. So here goes.
A little back ground, Im 72 years young and retired, have tried playing golf several years ago. Even took a few golf lessons without any success
.
A few years ago I was setting in a restaurant and a few people setting at the next table were talking about their golf game they had a couple of days before. I leaned over and told them I was having a difficult time trying to break 100 too …... on the 1st hole. Kinda the truth. Id hit the ball (sometimes not getting to the ladies tee) hit the ball a couple dozen times, move to the green and putt another dozen times and move on to the next hole. Since then I had gotten rid of my clubs.
So a few months ago one of my neighbors asked me if I played golf, he had no one to play with. I said “kinda”, with a smirk on my face. Bought some used golf clubs, and went out to play (sorta). Obviously I needed lessons. Got on line and found that Garit is an instructor. Made an appointment. Again Garit knew I had no idea how to play. So we started with the basics. Holding the club, stance, the club face, etc. And my biggest problem (and still is) is swaying back and forth. Which means I never make contact with the ball the same way all the time. He has also giving me a few exercises to keep me from swaying. After only 4 lessons I have shaved 30-40 strokes off my game, Now golf is not as frustrating and Im finely having fun. Garit has also helped my neighbor with his game as well another person in the neighborhood. Give Garit a try, I bet he will help you too.
But because Im a “work in progress”, there are days that I cant hit the ball at all. (That is why I think it is to early for me to wright something down. If I started when I was in my 20s it may be a different story. Maybe one can not teach an old guy new tricks ??? Just saying.
