Hey there! I'm Esahm, I've been playing the saxophone for nearly 17 years and have performed in nearly every context from Jazz Big Band and orchestras, to Rock bands, Wedding Bands, Pop Stage Performances, and more. Attending Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts gave me the foundation to pursue music on my own terms, and I've been a public performer ever since. I practice a form of teaching that is highly adaptive to my students needs and personal musical passions, opting to encourage them to pursue music in a way that keeps them excited and focuses on what they really want to explore. Instant Piano is a 2 part system for beginners who are looking for fast results without tedious practice routines. There is no reading sheet music or boring scales to mindlessly practice. 100% satisfaction guarantee. The student will learn to play the piano using my system of grips and simple patterns. These techniques immediately sound like songs, because in practice this is how many songs are played. In Part 1 we start with a simple grip and pattern, and incrementally increase complexity of both the grip and the pattern. I will show how this system is expandable on your own infinitely by simply changing the key. In Part 2 I will show you th...

I have many years of experience as a piano teacher. I grew up in Brooklyn, NY and started my piano lessons at the age of 7 years old. I studied classical music and was taught truly how to understand the language of music. From my teenage years and on, I always knew that I wanted to be a piano teacher. Teaching piano is not a job to me, it is my passion. Upon my first lesson with a student, I feel it is most important that I listen to what the student is wanting to achieve from their lessons. I am the type of piano teacher that is a blend of being traditional to current day updated modern day type of teacher. My goal is that my student looks ...

How long must you take piano lessons to play classical?

How do I find the best classical piano lessons near me?

Find classical piano lessons from private instructors by looking through the listings here on the Lessons website. Local music schools sometimes offer virtual lessons online as well.

Prior to hiring a local piano instructor, you should always:

  • Secure a minimum of 3 lesson cost estimates to get a clear comparison.
  • Read their ratings on sites such as Lessons and Google.
  • Talk to students on their references list.
  • Collect a written agreement and a lesson timeline before lessons begin.
  • Wait until after your preliminary sessions to start pre-booking for a month of lessons.

What question do I ask when choosing classical piano lessons?

When you're searching for a piano teacher, be sure to ask these questions:

  • How many years have you been teaching piano?
  • What is your formal music education background?
  • Which classical music composers are your favorites?
  • What is the typical age range of your students?
  • Do you offer a trial lesson, either for free or at a discounted rate?
  • If I don't have a piano, what type of keyboard should I get for practicing?
  • How much practice should I be doing outside of our lessons?
  • What textbooks do I need, and what's their cost?
  • Do you give assignments or pieces to memorize after each lesson?
  • Can you adapt your teaching style based on the individual student's needs?
  • What should I bring with me to our lessons?
  • How many different piano genres and styles can you teach?
  • Can I get a written copy of our agreement and the payment terms?
  • What is your policy for cancelling a lesson?
  • Will I be able to choose some of my own favorite songs to learn?

I began having lessons with Mr. Marth since the beginning of the year and I must say that he is a very responsible and experienced guitar instructor. He is very serious about his work and he always puts in 100% when teaching. I've had many teachers before and Mr. Marth really impressed me with his fun personality and love for music. He teaches the lessons in a very orderly manner, planning ahead of time and is very patient with beginners like me. Encouragement and jokes boost my interest in guitar significantly. He said that it is important to love music in order to do well. I like how he asked students to prepare a binder for music notes and notebook papers to write any questions down. But what I like the most is the little session at the end of the lesson where he will listen to a song that you like and play it on his guitar without any music scores. It really motivates me to practice harder and be able to play my favorite songs just by listening to it one day.
